About the Company
J. P. Walker Paleontology was founded to provide excellence in consulting paleontology services for private and public sector infrastructure and development projects.
Jim Walker has more than 20 years of experience providing solutions in applied paleontology and geology, including extensive paleontological resources consulting for compliance with CEQA and NEPA. He has led paleontological risk assessment, impact analysis, monitoring, and salvage operations for public and private projects ranging from large infrastructure undertakings such as the SFPUC's Calaveras Dam seismic retrofit to single-parcel private development. Jim’s experience includes field and laboratory work with the U.S. Geological Survey as a geologist, paleontologist, hydrologist, and geochemist as well as private sector employment in geologic hazards consulting and construction oversight. He also has substantial experience developing and managing spatial databases for scientific projects and has worked as a park naturalist doing oil spill clean-ups, bird counts, and historical research. In addition to paleontology and geology, Jim has strong background in biology. Jim is a California-registered Professional Geologist (PG-8432).
